B'nai Shalom of Olney is seeking a nurturing, inspiring, Director for our Early Childhood School (ECS). The ECS currently has a full day preschool, summer camp and toddler programs and is an integral part of the greater Synagogue community. The Early Childhood School subscribes to the best practices in emergent early childhood education and prides itself on the strength of both the teaching staff and the school community.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience teaching in early childhood, and with curriculum development. The Director must have administrative experiences in early childhood education and be able to hire, supervise, mentor teachers, and delegate responsibilities. The Director must possess a knowledge of differentiated instruction, meeting the needs of diverse learners, and a passion for teaching Jewish values and customs. This includes educating and engaging the parents, participating in community wide events, as well as transitioning the children and families to the Religious School upon their graduation from the program. The Director is a member of the congregation’s Professional Staff and will work closely with all members of the senior staff and clergy in addition to lay leadership.

Requirements include: (a) Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; (b) strong supervisory/administrative experience, including budget and financial management skills; (c) outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; (d) email, social media, and other computer skills, (e) Judaic knowledge; and (f) the capacity to be part of a team and collaborate effectively.
